Letchworth Open Submissions 2024

Be part of the biggest celebration of Hertfordshire's creative talent at the Letchworth Open Exhibition! From Saturday 14 September to Saturday 9 November 2024, the Broadway Gallery's walls will be filled floor to ceiling by artworks created by our amazing creative community.

The Letchworth Open Exhibition welcomes artists from all disciplines, including painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, applied arts and digital. Whether you are an established or emerging artist, a student, a graduate, an amateur, or a first-time artist, you are all invited to participate.

The entry fee is £10.00, enabling each artist to submit a single artwork, guaranteed to be exhibited. To ensure that this fee is not a barrier:

• Entry is free for anyone under 24 as of 1 September 2024
• You can volunteer in exchange for your entry fee: Volunteer slots are 3.5 hours (Wednesday - Saturday, 10am-1.30pm or 1.30pm-5pm) and are allocated on a first-come, first serve basis.

Broadway Gallery will award three artists a bursary of £1200 each, along with an invitation to present their work at the Gallery the following year. Previous recipients Anna Fairchild, Helena McGrath and Luke Perkins will help select the winners. Selected artists will also receive in-kind support through mentoring and the chance to work with our 'Meet Critique' CPD development programme run in partnership with Eastcheap Studios.

The popular People's Choice Award will return, along with various discipline-specific prizes.

  • Wednesday 21 August 2024 – Saturday 24 August 2024
  • 10am – 5pm.
• Exhibition Opening: Saturday 14 September, 2pm-8pm
• Exhibition Dates: Wednesday 18 September – 9 November 2024
• Bursary & Prize Announcements: Saturday 26 October, 4pm
• Collection of Work: Wednesday 13 November – Saturday 16 November 2025, 10am – 5pm.

This year, we are excited to introduce 'Letchworth Open Stories'. Throughout the exhibition, we will be sharing interviews with those contributing to the exhibition via our social and print media platforms highlighting some of the incredible artists involved.

After completing the application, you will receive an email with a link to 'Letchworth Open Stories'. If you would like to be featured, please answer the questions in as much detail as possible. We will reach out to as many artists as we can!

Below are links to the Letchworth Open Application Forms. If you're under 16, you can enter the 'Young Person's Open', which has the same conditions of entry plus a few extra question for parental consent.

Please remember to read the submission guidelines and terms of entry (linked below) before starting your application. You will need to upload a JPEG image of your artwork during the application process. A complete list of application form questions is also provided below.

Once you have submitted, you will not be able to amend your application form of artwork details. Minor corrections can only be made during the delivery of your artwork.
